Our Young Musicians

Jendela Ide Kids & Junior Percussion

Jendela Ide Kids Percussion was established five years ago as one of the activities of Jendela Ide cultural organization for children & youth.
Beginning with about 20 youngsters learning to play rebana, this group have performed in various Children’s or Cultural Forums in Bandung. Children who had a serious interest in learning to play percussion instruments expressed the desire to learn to play 'Djembe', an instrument from Africa, produced in Bandung, West Java.

Jendela Ide invited percussion specialist to facilitate them on a regular basis, until they eventually formed a solid children’s percussion group, Jendela Ide Kids Percussion & Jendela Ide Junior Percussion and perform in various music events in Bandung as well as Jakarta.
In addition, in 2004-2006, Jendela Ide Kids Percussion took part in a percussion workshop with Mamadou Diabate (Djembe performer - Burkina Faso, Africa), Tomoko (composer - Tokyo, Japan), Trio Dingo ( Australia ).

Karinding

Karinding is a project supported by Jendela Ide, cultural institution for children & youth to stimulate young talented musicians playing with skills, intuition and imagination.
Starting mid 2006 they have performed at BII Jakarta and Jendela Ide Bandung.

Karinding collaborative project musicians at this time are:

Bintang Manira, born in Bandung 1991
Interested in music, dance & visual art since his earlier years.
Start to learn percussion when he was 9 years at Jendela Ide with Djaelani, Adjierao, Dadi, Ziner and Rumah Musik Harry Roesli. Specifically playing djembe, timbales & drums and still learning to play kendang and taganing (traditional percussion )

Participated in percussion workshops with Mamadou Diabate (percussionist, Burkina Faso, Africa) and Tomoko (composer,Tokyo, Japan), Trio Dingo (musician, Australia), Keiko Takeya (choreographer,Tokyo, Japan).

Adi Supriadi
, born in Garut 1992
Grew up in a musician family, his father plays kendang and other music instruments in a dangdut orchestra, where he indirectly started to love percussion.

Learning percussion since 2003 at Jendela Ide with Djaelani, Adjierao, Dadi and Ziner. Participated in percussion workshops with Mamadou Diabate (percussionist, Burkina Faso, Africa) and Tomoko (composer,Tokyo, Japan), Trio Dingo (musician, Australia), Keiko Takeya (choreographer,Tokyo, Japan).

Yudi Taryudi, born in Bandung 1980
In 1996 entered Traditional Music High School in Bandung, focusing on kecapi and graduated from Indonesian Institute of Art Bandung. Learning from diverse traditional music specialist and start to perform at 16. Joined Zithermania as a musician from 1999 until 2002 with a number of performances at Sabuga-Bandung, CCF Bandung, Rumah Nusantara, Barak Gallery, AACC Bandung, LIP Yogyakarta, Bali World Music, etc. Composer for a number of performances: ARTPRO-Jakarta, BLACK MARCET Surabaya - Surakarta, TEATER MATAHARI Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surakarta.

Teaching kecapi/ suling/ djembe at Lingkung Seni Mekar Sari, YAS & Providentia Junior High School and Jendela Ide, cultural institution for children & youth.

First Prize Winner for Pasanggiri Pamirig Kawih, ITB Bandung.

Ziner
, born in Bandung 1973
Graduated from Indonesian Institute of Art Bandung in 1998, specialized in Kendang. Since 1993 started his international debut. 1994 collaborate with Ron Reeves-Australia in Earth Music and joined Sambasunda with a number of performances in Iran, Sri Lanka etc.

In 2001 – 2002 with Jugala Allstars performed in Europe at Rudolstad Festival Germany, Roskilae Festival Denmark, Winternachten Festival Holland and touring in England,Belgium, Austria etc. At the end of 2003 participating in the Nanning International Festival Of Folk Songs, Guangxi, China. Sambasunda Europe Tour in 2003 include performing at WOMAD.

Selected performance in 2004-2005 at Asia Music Festival-Taiwan, Rainforest Music Festival- Kuching-Sarawak and at the 50th celebration of Asia-African Conference-Bandung.
2005 with Sambasunda Europe Tour and in 2006 collaborating with Norway Jazz Musician at Esplanade, Singapore.
