KARINDING COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
Karinding Collaborative Project support & facilitate by Jendela Ide, cultural institution for children & youth, encounter young musicians with diverse music backgrounds to know each other - play - exercise - explore - orientate - sharing ideas - working in collaboration & present it for the public.
Formed in 2006, performed in Bandung & Jakarta with Bintang Manira Manik, Yudi Taruma di Swhara and Ziner.
Karinding is a small bamboo music instrument, played harmonically in a group and produced beautiful vibrations. We hope through a process of musical dialog, Karinding Collaborative Project could bring good vibrations to the musicians and listeners.
Karinding Collaborative Project formation for this event are:
Bintang Manira Manik, born in Bandung 1991Interested in music, visual arts and body movements since his earlier years.Learning percussion since 9 years at Jendela Ide with Djaelani, Adjierao, Dadi, Ziner, Yudi, Jilly Likumahuwa and Rumah Musik Harry Roesli. Playing djembe, timbales, Sundanese ‘kendang’ & drums.Participating in workshops by Mamadou Diabate (percussionist, Burkina Faso, Africa), Tomoko (composer, Tokyo, Japan), Trio Dingo (musician, Australia), Keiko Takeya (choreographer, Tokyo, Japan), Slamet Gundono-Wayang Suket, Jilly Likumahuwa, etc. Performance with Jendela Ide Kids Percussion at Java Jazz Festival 2005, Jazz Aid at CCF Bandung, Asia Europe International Artists Workshop - Commonroom Bandung, World in East - Keiko Dance 01 at CCF Bandung, Children Are The Future with Sadao Watanabe at Java Jazz Festival 2007, UN Fight Hunger Concert 2007, Sabuga Jazz Fest For Freedom, etc. 2007 become Percussion Youth Facilitator at Jendela Ide, cultural institution for children & youth.Joined Karinding Collaborative Project in 2006.Jalu Rohanda Baskara, born in Garut 1987Since his youth interested in music, especially in playing bass-guitar. Start to learn autodidact, later with Indro, Dika and a number of friends-teachers-bass players who shared their knowledge with him. Currently a member of Bad Boyz Blues & Elbe Jazz Big Band UPI.Performing in diverse music concerts/ events in Bandung & Jakarta f.e. Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival 2006, Surabaya Full Music ( Mystical Earth Jatiwangi ), Sabuga Jazzfest for Freedom 2007, etc.Bass-guitar Facilitator at Jendela Ide, cultural organization for children & youth.Joined Karinding Collaborative Project in 2007.Tesla Manaf Effendi, born in Jakarta 1987Start to learn guitar since 9 years. Become a student of Yamaha Music School at the age of 13, took classical guitar guided by Ismail & Agus. First Winner of Yamaha Junior Guitar Competition in 2003, Second Winner of Yamaha Junior Guitar Competition at the same year and First Winner of Yamaha Junior Guitar Competition in 2004.Three times becoming Best Guitarist, while playing with his Rock Band in Bekasi, which received the First & Second Winner at the same festival.2006 – 2007 playing regularly at Sheraton Hotel, Bandung.Currently learning jazz guitar with Venche.Taught classical guitar, rock guitar & bass guitar for a certain time.Joined Karinding Collaborative Project in 2007.Wawan Kurniawan/ Awenk, born in Bandung 1985Since grade 3 of his elementary school interested in traditional culture, especially from West Java.Learning traditional, modern & contemporary music and became a student of SMKN10 ( major Traditional Music ). Studying at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Music Program.Performed at ‘Pentas Komponis Muda’ at Taman Budaya, 2000. Participated in Festival of Contemporary Music in Germany & stayed 2 months for a Residency.Took part in a number of Music Concert/ Events as an educational medium.Joined Karinding Collaborative Project September 2007Yudi Taruma di Swhara, born in Bandung 1980Learned diverse traditional music instruments since 16 years. In 1996 entered SMKI (now SMKN 10), later studied at STSI Bandung, major program Kecapi. Became a member of Zithermania in 1999 until 2002, with a number of performances at Sabuga-Bandung, CCF Bandung, Rumah Nusantara, Barak Gallery, AACC Bandung, LIP Yogyakarta, Bali World Music, etc.Composed a number of music pieces performed in : ARTPRO-Jakarta, BLACK MARCET Surabaya - Surakarta, TEATER MATAHARI Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surakarta.First winner of Pasanggiri Pamirig Kawih, ITB Bandung.Facilitating kecapi, Sundanese ‘kendang’, djembe at Jendela Ide, cultural organization for children & youth.

Jendela Ide Kids Percussion
Jendela Ide Kids Percussion was established five years ago as one of the activities of Jendela Ide cultural organization for children & youth.
Beginning with about 20 youngsters learning to play rebana, this group have performed in various Children’s or Cultural Forums in Bandung. Children who had a serious interest in learning to play percussion instruments expressed the desire to learn to play 'Djembe', an instrument from Africa, produced in Bandung, West Java.
Jendela Ide invited percussion specialist to facilitate them on a regular basis, until they eventually formed a solid children’s percussion group, Jendela Ide Kids Percussion & Jendela Ide Junior Percussion and perform in various music events in Bandung as well as Jakarta.
In addition, in 2004-2006, Jendela Ide Kids Percussion took part in a percussion workshop with Mamadou Diabate (Djembe performer - Burkina Faso, Africa), Tomoko (composer - Tokyo, Japan), Trio Dingo ( Australia ).
